Memory Box Asters Flower Tutorial

Hello Friends
Hope you all are doing great! Today I am going to share my first tutorial on DCAM. We will make flower blooms using Memory Box Aster Dies. This die is very versatile.

You will need:
Lovely Asters Die
Mono Multi Liquid Glue
Cardstock
Embossing Tools
Embossing Mat

Tutorial
We will need 2 large, 2 medium and 2 small die cuts.

Distress small die cuts. We have used worn lipstick distress ink pad. This will add a depth to the flower.

Reverse the die cuts and mould the petals with molding tool as shown below
This will form the die cuts in cup shape.
Now again reverse the die cuts down and mould the center of the die cuts in circular motion. This will add dimension to the petals.

Now assemble the petals as shown in the picture below.
Last step add a rhinestone or a pearl in the center and voila we are done.
This is how we have used flowers on our card.

Isn't it pretty? We would love to hear your thoughts.
Hugs,
Shilpi

Simple Fridge Magnets

Hello everyone,

Its Sachi here, at the DCAM  Inspiration post and i have put together a couple of Fridge Magnets for you today .
This is the first time that I have made fridge magnets ,and that too from a MDF scalloped frame using the Sizzix Bigz XL Frame Die . Here's a view-

The scalloped borders have been distressed with some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.I have managed to fit lots of Pattern Papers from the Prima Almanac and Lyric collection with fussy cut corners from the Prima Romance Notecards .The delicate swirls around the mulberry blooms are the Vintage swirls from Marianna. Here's a closer look-

Here is the second keepsake again made from the Sizzix die -

The Beautiful papers are the Prima Lyric collection , there are 4 pretty papers of each design with vintage motifs and soft colours . The frame has been distressed with Dried Marigold , since it goes so well with the Prima Lyric colours. For the red rose i have moistened a red handmade paper with the Ruby red Mist , it makes the bloom looks so vibrant and afresh . All the flowers have been sprinkled with the chunky Crystal Dust Transparent glitter , doesn't it look just like dew drops ?

Here is a closer look at the blooms with the crystal glitter -

Thats it from me today , if you like these beauties do let me know. And dont forget to participate in our current Challenge No 2 # Shabby is Chic  !

Drawer Box

Hello everyone!!
Hope all of you are having a good time reading the awesome posts at our blog!
Today i am here to share a tutorial with all of you!
This is going to be a picture heavy post so sit back with your favorite drink and relax!

I've made this drawer box. How's it??

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1- MAIN BOX

Cut a piece of 12*6 1/4 piece of cardstock.
Score this at 3", 6", 9" as shown below.

Step 2- DRAWERS
Cut four squares of cardstock measuring 5 7/8" * 5 7/8"
Score these at 1 1/2" on all four sides

Cut the 1st score mark on two sides as shown below.
I like to taper and shorten the flaps a little before gluing - this is optional.

Glue each drawer together.

Step 3- DRAWER PLACEMENT

Lay your main box scored piece down flat and then align and glue the drawer to the very top edge of the left panel repeat the same for the bottom right panel.

P.s- the tricky part
Now position the other two drawers. Position one drawer to the panel adjacent to the left top drawer just below the top drawer. Position the remaining drawer to the panel adjacent to the right bottom drawer just above the bottom drawer. Once satisfied glue them and fold the panel to check if they are aligned properly.

Step 4- THE LID

Cut a 5"* 5" piece of cardstock and score it at 1" on all four sides , taper and shorten the flaps and glue together.

Now the base is ready. Decorate it as you please!

Hope all of you enjoy the tutorial!
Thanks for stopping by!

Product Review of Faber Castell Gelatos.

Hello Friends
How are you all doing? Have you participated in DCAM shabby chic challenge? If not then hurry up..you never know you can be the lucky winner.

Today I will be sharing product review and techniques of Faber castell Gelatos. Believe me you will fall in love with this product over and over again. It is so versatile.

Gelatos are creamy rich colors and blend smoothly with or without water.Gelatos can be used on any surface paper, chipboard, cork, canvas. The color glides on smooothly onto the papers and can be dissolved with water to giver watercolor effects. They are acid free and odorless.

Gelatos can be used in diffrent ways to create number of effects. This is a picture heavy post so catch ur cup of coffee and sit back relaxing.

Techniques:
1. Gelatos directly on paper. Here I have made this card by applying gelatos directly onto paper and blending with finger. See how beautifully it blended.

2. Gelatos with water. I created this background by directly applying gelatos onto the paper and blending with finger and then spritzed the tag with water. It reacted with water and gave a translucent effect.

3. Gelatos with heat embossed backgrounds. Now this one is my favourite technique as you can see how the designed got enhanced. I directly applied gelatos onto the heat embossed surface and rubbed with finger. removed excess off with tissue paper and tadaaa the background is ready to use.
I have used metallic gelatos for this tag. Can you see the shimmer. I know camera couldn't capture the true shimmer but in person its looking awesome.

4. Gelatos on dry embossed backgrounds. Now here is a trick. I glided gelatos on the reverse side of embossed tag and as you can see the design is clearly visible giving a perfect look for background.

5. Stamping with Gelatos. I directly applied gelatos to the stamp and slightly sprintzed with water and stamped it. nd it is giving a watercolor effect.

6. Watercoloring with gelatos. I have stamped this Prima doll and heat embossed it. Applied a very small amount of gelatos with my waterbrush and starting coloring same the way we did in our arts classes in schools.
7. Making own Flowers with Gelatos. I have stamped and heat embossed the flower with black embossing powder. and colored it with gelatos and added few liquid pearls in the center. See how vibrant it turned out.

And here is a complete tag. Did you check the awesome background and the colored doll?

So now as you see gelatos can be used in different ways, friends get your pack of gelatos and let your creative juices flow. these are available in custom pack of 4 gelatos and a complete set of 36 gelatos. Both are available at our very own store DCAM.
Hope this information helps you. If more info is needed pls leave comments and we will be more than happy to answer.
Don't forget to enter into our new challenge HERE.

A Forever Card

Hi,
Good Morning everyone, its Sachi here and today is my turn for the DCAM Challenge Inspiration . I hope this card gets your creative MOJO going !

I started the card with the black linen textured card stock from Die Cuts & More , i think it gives a very sturdy base to a project.
Lots of intricate dies from Memory Box and Cheery Lynn have gone into this card !The delicate swirls and the gorgeous heart are all Memory Box dies , Die Cuts & More has an amazing and a huge collection of these beauties . And yes best of all the Cheery Lynn Sweet Williams strip,it a must add die if you love making handmade flowers .Here's a closeup-

The blooms have been  colored with Spun Sugar distress marker with the white center pollen from Die Cuts and More . Adding fine brush strokes is a lot easier with the distress markers.

I wanted to use this antique watch which i  fussy cut from the Prima Engraver Papers , apart from giving a vintage touch it also adds as an embellishment. The background on which the sentiment pieces have been stamped have been distressed with Frayed Burlap, Antique linen and some gesso.

I hope I have inspired you to make a shabby chic creation for our ongoing Challenge No 2#-Shabby Is Chic, so keep the awesome entries coming  . And let me know if you like my card , would love to hear from you . And don't forget to check the crafty supplies beneath .

Thanks for stopping by , Have a great day ahead !

We have received some gorgeous entries n i am sure we will have a tough time making the decision! Keep em coming! :D
Now i would like to share a card i made. Its a Side Step Dresser card.
Here is it!

Here's a side view of it!
Instructions:
I used the Marth Stewart Scoring board to make the creases and used the paper cutter to make partial cuts.
Both these tools are essential for card making n are soo good!
I next used Spellbinders labels to make the table look like a dresser.
I cut 3 rectangles using the cardstock from our store its tick n sturdy excellent for cards!
Next i distressed the base and all the pieces using Distress ink Tattered rose its one of my fav colour. It gives a perfect vintage feel to the project.
Next I cut the drawers and layered them using Almanac paper pad from prima! Its such a pretty paper pad the prints are vintage n go well with the shabby chic theme.
I also used Spellbinders Floral Ovals this is a fabulous die i can never get enough of it! i've layered this with another piece of pattern paper.
I've embellished the card using pearls, buttons and ribbon from my stash!
I fuzzy cut elements from the paper pad n covered them with Glossy accents! i stamped the sentiment on one of the fuzzy cut elements using Archival ink its the best ink for stamping i completely love it!! its a must have!

Tag !!

Good Morning Folks !!

How are you all?? Hope you enjoying this month Challenge here with us DCAM and enjoying the Mind boggling inspirations from our Team. Today I have a TAG to share with you all . I always wanted to make one ever  since I bought mine first Prima doll stamp . Well I did try to coordinate my tag with theme but I guess it gives more of Contemporary feel .
Have a look ..

How is it ?? I know not good but fine :P

Close Views

Yeyy I have used my MIST-RIES to make the background . Now the question that POPS UP in mind will be How did I get this Soft tones of our BOLD VIBRANT MIST-RIES  ?
RIGHT ????

Another close view (textured background)
OOOH.. I just loved it . What do you have to say about it ??

For Background I have Used the same technique which I shared with you in my last month post FLORAL MIST-RY ( you can check the tutorial.) The technique is exactly the same ,I have applied a layer of gesso on my base Tag to lower down the tone of Mist- ries .

And my hand FLOWERS . Seriously I hooked to flower making !!
The white and pink flower is handmade . And I have added pearl to give a look of spray .

I know I am totally bad in coloring :P but learning somehow . I have used a scrap Pattern paper stamped with versamark inkpad over the paper and used silver embossing powder .It gives altogether a different dimension to the stamped dress what say ???

Hopefully I was able to Inspire you all and Don't forget to participate in our this Month Challenge.

Have a Nice day
XOXO
